On the first day I arrived in Okinawa, it was raining, so I wasn’t choosy with dinner. I ducked into the closest local grocery store and saw stacks of bento boxes. I chose the taco rice since I had read that it is an Okinawan specialty.
Taco meat, cheese, salsa, served on top of rice.
Pretty good, although I should have gone to a local restaurant instead of a bento box.
Was in Okinawa awhile back. We stopped at a local eatery in the mountain that seemed popular with the locals since there were lots of taxi-cabs parked outside.
Black pig is an Okinawan specialty.
The black pig tonkatsu did not disappoint! Perfectly cooked, juicy local pork.
Sister ordered the curry.
